Louise “Maud” Maudy Chevallier, 88, of Hilo died Aug. 14 at a care home in Mountain View. Born in Indonesia, she was a retired manager for The Hartford and member of Hilo Berean Bible Church, Hilo Orchid Society, Big Island Stroke Club, Hilo Grandmothers No. 652; the Seniors of Paradise – Puna and AARP Chapter 655. No services. Survived by nephews, Brian (Stella) Wardenaar of Hilo and Gamar Batinggi of Jakarta, Indonesia; cousins, April Priscilla and Febie Babyrose of Jakarta; other family in Holland and on the mainland. Mildred Yayoi Kawaguchi, 74, of Hilo died July 11 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired public school teacher and member of Puna Hongwanji Mission. Services held. Survived by husband, Harold Kawaguchi of Hilo; sons, Craig (Lisa) Kawaguchi and Neal (Alina) Kawaguchi of Hilo; sister, Linda (John) Imoto of Honolulu; sister-in-law, Dorothy Higashi of Honolulu; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Constance Marie Thummel, 68, of Kealakekua died Aug. 18 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Great Bend, Kans., she was a spirit guidance counselor. Memorial services at a later date.
